You might not realise but Scotland has some of the best beaches in the world. The temperatures might not match Mediterranean standards but the views more than make up for it!
Here are a few local picks:
Cuil Bay (Duror, towards Oban, 10 miles)
Ok – this first one isn’t world class however it has great views and is close. Great for a wander along the shingle beach taking in the views, a picnic, or (for the hardy) a swim. Great views up and down Loch Linnhe.
Tralee Bay (Benderloch towards Oban, 40 minutes drive)
A lovely sweeping sandy bay with great views up and down the sea loch. Follow the signs just on the right after the school in Benderloch.
Morar and Camusdarach (before Mallaig, an hours drive)
These are world class with views to die for! Explore on your own on the minor road between Arisaig and Morar. Please note the locals here have had some torrid times with overcrowding, parking, litter etc. so please visit responsibly.
